Personal Trainer

The Lawrence County YMCA is currently hiring Personal Trainers for our Downtown and Y-Zone location.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Consulting with clients to understand their goals and current fitness levels
  • Creating personalized work out routines to improve muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health
  • Setting fitness goals and monitoring the clients progress
  • Motivating and guiding clients through their workout
  • Instructing clients in using gym equipment properly
  • Recommending a nutritionist to give dietary advice and producing plans to help clients eat healthy meals
  • Have a presence in the Wellness room and be available to answer questions from participants
  • Soliciting new clients to sign up at the gym
  • Communicate with Fitness Director
  • All other tasks as assigned by designate


  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (G.E.D.)
  • Personal Training certification
  • Past experience as a personal trainer or fitness instructor
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certifications
  • Ability to demonstrate proper form and technique for exercise movements
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience teaching or working with children, teens, and adults
  • Knowledge of YMCA programs and services
  • Ability to teach all levels and types of Y fitness classes
  • Experience and knowledge of the fitness industry as a whole
  • Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Check, and NSOR Clearance
